Baby Dedication or Baptism is a special time to thank God for the precious gift of your child. Dedication is also an opportunity to publicly declare your intentions to raise your child in a Christian home. Finally, dedication at Compass Church is a family time when parents commit themselves to abiding by biblical principles and raising their children according to God’s standards. Not only are you dedicating your child to God, but you are also dedicating yourselves as parents to Christ and the church. You are committing yourselves to maintaining a Christian home in which Christ is honored and the Word of God is held in reverence.

Guidelines for Parents

Baby Dedication is open to parents who can say, “I will commit myself to raising this child to know the Lord Jesus Christ by loving, disciplining, training and setting a positive, Christ-like example.” An orientation meeting with one of the elders is conducted before the dedication to explain the process and answer all questions regarding Baby Dedication.

Membership at Compass Church isn’t required, but regular attendance and active involvement in the life of the church is. During the dedication, parents will publicly profess a commitment to active church involvement, as part of their vow toward raising their child. Therefore, we expect parents to be regular attenders or members.
